WHO STILL PICKS UP HITCHIKERS?! DON'T DO IT!
A 19-year-old transient stole a tractor trailer and left a trail of destruction in his wake, until he ultimately toppled the vehicle -- all because he thought zombies were on his tail.
Jeremiah Clyde Hartline had hitched a ride on the truck while apparently under the influence of drugs early Saturday evening. When the driver stepped away, Hartline told cops he got spooked about zombies on his tail and allegedly stepped on the gas.
He caused a chain reaction accident, striking multiple vehicles as he struggled to control the truck as it motored down California's Interstate before Hartline jackknifed the truck, toppled it, and tried to flee. He was detained by a motorist he tried to carjack until cops arrived to arrest him.
Hartline was charged with suspicion of vehicle theft and receiving stolen property for the truck and its load of strawberries.
